Commentary Magazines
Subscription
Commentary magazines
subscription are published and subsidized by the American Jewish Congress. In a world where once prestigious magazines like the New Yorker and Scientific American have been watered down in the pursuit of increased readership, the subtle stylistic prose of Commentary Magazine is without parallel.
Only about 1/5 of the content is focused on Israel and American Jewish cultural issues, so the readership should be wider than a niche target audience of Americans of Ashkenazi origin.
The philosophy of the magazine is neo-conservative. If
you want a magazines that does not insult your
intelligence, try Commentary Magazines
Subscription.
Getting Commentary magazines
subscription is a wonderful and satisfying experience. In an age when most glossy magazines are filled with the latest silly trends and lightweight
opinions, this is a magazine of substance. Its opinions are controversial but worth exploring. It is a magazine of
clout, not of fluff. General news magazines like Time and
Newsweek, are nothing more than rehashes of the obvious, and
silly gossip, and mindless trends. This is a magazine you can learn from.
The most erudite news magazine in the English language.
You'll love the letters to the editor which are an education all by themselves. This is not easy
reading, but is very satisfying, and can change your perspective on the world you live in.
Compared to the National Review or New Republic, the articles in
Commentary magazines subscription are less timely but much more thorough and involved. The writing, unlike a rag like the New York Review of Books or for that matter The American Spectator, is never strident. Even if the politics are not to your liking, this magazine
is essential reading for the educated American. In a country in which the mainstream press consistently dismisses conservative beliefs as "radical", "extreme", and "out-of-touch", Commentary demonstrates that those adjectives can really be applied to the op-ed writers who express those views. It
is a publication highlighting recent charitable giving, givers, and their benefits on the community. Also, includes upcoming events of the Columbus Foundation and their
grant making calendar. Every half dozen issues or so, Commentary magazines
subscription will publish a symposium on a topic of current interest, with 500-750 words written by 15-20 authors, mostly rightists but with a healthy splash of liberals. The magazine also publishes much on interests of Jewish concern, such as the defense of Israel and well as cultural issues. As a gentile, I find these articles quite interesting. |
